About 14 years ago, when I was a classroom teacher, I started playing
around with LogoWriter with some 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Ever
since then, I have dabbled in the art of Logo programming, mostly
in the context of that little green turtle in MicroWorlds. Two years
ago, I made the leap from classroom teacher to Technology Coordinator
at Convent of the Sacred Heart. Thus began my initiation into the
world of LEGO Robotics.
Since then, I have worked with five different programming languages
or environments that manipulate those little LEGO machines. I am
especially proud of my Indestructible Baby Proofed Insect, which
my one-year-old has not yet been able to destroy. Even my dog likes
to chase my insect around. I am also working on a maze solver which
will one day be able to solve any maze you construct for it. I have
had a lot of fun creating music for my programs. In addition to
teaching at Sacred Heart, I have been a facilitator for the past
two years at the Logo Summer Institutes in New York City.
Other than being a Logo nerd, I enjoy writing, strumming my Fender,
and twisting my body into weird yoga poses.
