The Logo Foundation is again sponsoring a series
of Logo Summer Institutes, intensive week-long
workshops with an emphasis on constructionist,
project-based learning.
There are two Institutes. Logo Immersion focuses
on the creation of animated stories and reports,
games, simulations, and explorations in
mathematics, language, science, and music. We will
use a variety of Logo software environments
including MicroWorlds, StarLogo, and the
long-awaited new Terrapin Logo. We will also
have a look at other programming environments for
children such as ToonTalk.
In Logo Robotics we will design and build
cybernetic devices of all kinds and control them
through Logo programs. There will be robotics
systems available from LEGO®, Terrapin
Software, and the MIT Media Lab.
The Summer Institutes are not all workshopping.
There are late afternoon and evening sightseeing
tours and recreational activities, including museum
visits in New York and river rafting in
Colorado.
