I am a Digital Learning Specialist in Fort Bend ISD in Sugar Land, Texas. I have been in education for more than 25 years, first as a high school math and technology teacher, then as a Digital Learning Specialist, where I work with teachers and students to integrate technology into the curriculum.

I have taught programming and web page design, digital animation, graphics, multimedia, and video editing.  I fell in love with programming in high school learning Logo and BASIC on Apple II computers and continued on into college learning Pascal, FORTRAN, and C.

In the past few years I have had the opportunity to work with high school computer science teachers to develop curriculum, and in the fall of 2013 I was asked to work on a project between our Digital Learning Department, Schlumberger, and the Fort Bend ISD Education Foundation to bring coding camps to middle and elementary schools in Fort Bend. I assisted with the first elementary school coding camp where we bused students from two elementary schools to one of our middle schools to work with two of our teachers who had attended the Logo Summer Institute. I was so inspired by that experience that I knew we needed expand the program to other campuses. Since 2013, we have grown from one middle school to 24 elementary and middle school campuses, and we hope to continue to expand our program to all our campuses.

When I am not at work, I enjoy traveling with my husband (a computer science teacher) and our 3 almost-grown children.  Theme parks (especially in Orlando) are a favorite destination, but I hope to go overseas sometime in the near future.
