I am a native of Houston, Texas.  I graduated from Houston area public schools and was a National Merit Scholar.

I worked in a number of public service jobs including the Houston Area Urban League, Houston city government, and the Cultural Arts Council of Houston. I worked for approximately 20 years in the television industry including jobs as the General Manager of Houston Public Access Television, General Manager of Cleveland Minority Television and General Manager of HCC-TV, the television station for the Houston Community College System.

I began my teaching career as the media teacher at Jones High School, an inner-city high school in Houston, TX.  I also taught Computer Applications and Principals of Technology at Fleming Middle School in Houston, TX.  I currently teach a variety of subjects including robotics, AP Computer Science Principles, Computer Science I and CAD design at Energy Institute High School.

I hold Texas state teaching certifications in Media Technology, Technical Education and Computer Science and am certified by Project Lead the Way in Technology and Computer Science.  I often teach robotics and coding summer camps.

I have been active in numerous non-profit organizations including the Children’s Museum of Houston, Miller Outdoor Theater, the Community Music Center of Houston, the Volunteer Center of Houston and United Way’s Project Blueprint.

I have coached robotics teams to regional, state and national championships and four trips to the VEX Robotics World Championship.
